Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Classes

CompuTrain classes are In-Person classes. What is the difference between “In-Person” classes and “Virtual” classes?

All CompuTrain classes are In-Person, instructor-led classes.  This means that the instructor for your class is teaching the class in the same classroom you are seated in.  Many other companies offer only virtual or remote classes in which you are seated in a cubicle listening on a set of headphones to an instructor that is located in an entirely different location (or some other remote venue).  At CompuTrain, our instructors are always inside the classroom delivering an engaging, informative class and have the ability to address questions that arise in a manner where all students benefit.

Do I have to meet the prerequisites to take a class?

While not mandatory, meeting the prerequisites for each class is highly recommended.  Prerequisites are detailed on each course outline.

CompuTrain offers a Self-Assessment Tool for each Microsoft Office application to assist the student in self-evaluating what level class is best given his or her current skill set.  Each Roadmap will ask the student a series of questions and based on his or her responses a course level is recommended.

Please call us for further clarification on which level course is best for you.

Do I need to bring a laptop to class?

If you are attending class in one of the training rooms at the CompuTrain Training Center, you do not need to bring a laptop with you to class.  Each student will be seated at a desktop for a hands-on learning experience.

How do I enroll in a class?

While viewing one of our Public Class web pages, simply click on the course date of any class to be taken to the class registration portal.  Once at the class portal, click on the REGISTER button to begin the process.

How long is each class?

The majority of our Public Classes are 1-day courses.  They run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and are held on Mondays – Fridays. Some classes are 2-day courses.

How long is the lunch break?

One hour is allotted for lunch.  The time of the lunch break varies by class.  Usually, the class decides what they’d like to do.  Most lunches are either from 11:30 – 12:30 or 12:00 – 1:00.

Is lunch provided in my classes at CompuTrain?

Lunch is not provided.   There are several fantastic restaurants in the area.  We have compiled as list of these for you on our Student Resources page of the CompuTrain website.  For those who want to eat in, we do have a refrigerator and microwave.  There is also a deli in the adjoining building that makes great sandwiches and offers a daily lunch special.

Is there a dress code for classes at CompuTrain?

Come in whatever feels most comfortable.  Most clients wear business casual.
